Frequently Asked Questions

Are these tools really free?

Yes. Every tool on this page is free to use and needs no account or login. Open a tool, pick your fund and see the result.

Where does the data come from?

Fund NAVs come from AMFI, which publishes every fund's NAV each business day. Fund holdings come from the monthly portfolios that fund houses publish. Index figures use the Total Return Index. Each tool shows the date its data runs to.

Which tool should I start with?

If you own several funds, start with the mutual fund overlap checker or the portfolio X-ray to see how much they repeat each other. Before you sell, use the capital gains calculator and the exit load calculator. To judge a fund, use fund vs benchmark, rolling returns and drawdown.

Which tools show what my funds hold?

What your funds own, how much they repeat each other, and what the stocks inside cost. Mutual fund overlap checker: See how many of the same stocks your funds hold, and where your money really goes. Stocks vs mutual funds overlap: Add the stocks you hold and the funds you own. See your real stake in each company. Mutual fund portfolio X-ray: Add your funds and amounts to see the actual stocks, sectors and company sizes your money sits in. Similar funds finder: Pick a fund and see which other funds hold the most of the same stocks. Mutual fund PE ratio checker: See the P/E, P/B and dividend yield of the stocks inside a fund, next to its category.

Which tools show how a fund has performed?

How a fund did over time, against its index and in past market falls. Mutual fund NAV history: Look up the NAV of any fund on any past date, and the return between two dates. Fund vs benchmark checker: See, year by year, whether a fund beat its benchmark index and the average fund in its category. Rolling returns calculator: See how a fund or index did over every 1, 3 or 5-year period in its history, not just from one start date. Mutual fund drawdown: See how far a fund fell in past market falls and how long it took to get back.

Which calculators are there?

Growth, tax and exit load, worked out with real NAVs. Lumpsum calculator: Grow an amount at a rate you choose, or see how it would have done in the Nifty 50. Switch to SIP to compare. Mutual fund capital gains calculator: Work out the gain and tax on fund units you sold, using the real NAV on your buy and sell dates. Exit load calculator: Find the exit load on a withdrawal, for lumpsums and SIPs, oldest units first.

How often is the data updated?

NAVs are updated every business day after AMFI publishes them. Fund holdings are updated once a month, when fund houses publish their portfolios, so they run a few weeks behind.

Can I check my whole portfolio at once?

Yes, with Kalpi's portfolio analyser. Upload your CAS or connect your broker to get a health check across every fund and stock you own.
